Tim Frederiksen, chamber music and viola professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, leads the chamber music course for strings together with Sibbi Bernhardsson, violin professor at the Oberlin College and Conservatory, in 2020. In Tim’s capacity as Head of Chamber Music he coaches award winning Danish ensembles, like the Danish String Quartet, Trio Ondine and Paizo Quartet. He is also highly in demand as a teacher at international and national master classes and is often invited as jury member in international music competitions, a.o the Max Rostal Competition in Berlin and Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition.
The course is for music students on instruments within the classical music tradition, and primarily for youth ages 18 to 28.
Each chamber music group receives group lessons, but each student also receives single lessons with a teacher from the Summer Academy. Each student receives 200 minutes of lesson on the main course (Summer Academy), but on the chamber music course the minutes will be divided;
100 minutes of single lessons
100 minutes of chamber music lessons
That means for a quartet each student has 100 minutes for chamber lessons, i.e. the quartet receives a totalt of 4 x 100 = 400 minutes of chamber lessons.
The course fee for the chamber music course is the same a the main course; NOK 5250,- and it grants 3 ECTS from the Norwegian Academy of Music.
The Chamber musicians live and have their lessons at Lysebu hotell, owned by the Danish Norwegian Cooperation Fund
