Gregor Witt is oboe solist of the Staatskapelle Berlin and a sought for solist and chamber musician in Europe, Asia and America. Witt is professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock, and gives Master Classes at the Juillard School of Music i New York and schools in Spain, Finland, and Poland. Witt conducts the Mecklenburgische Bläserakademie, a cooperation between the Staatskapelle Berlin and Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock.
In 2015 Olivier won 1st Prize at the Young Concert Artists auditions in Leipzig and New York. In the same year he was appointed principal oboe of the London Symphony Orchestra.
Recent highlights include debut concerts in the US at Merkin Concert Hall in New York and the Isabella Gardner Museum in Boston. As a soloist he has performed Berio’s Chemins IV with the Orchestre National du Capitole Toulouse, Bernd Alois Zimmermann’s Concerto with the French National Orchestra broadcast by Radio France Musique, Benjamin Attahir’s Concerto in Suntory Hall with the Tokyo Sinfonietta and Mozart at the Festival Suoni dal Golfo in Lerici, and at Kings Place London.
Born in Valverde del Camino, Spain, he began studying music at the age of 9 at the Huelva Conservatory. He has also studied at Zurich Conservatory, Conservatory of Freiburg im Breisgau and the Karajan Academy with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
Navarro has played with several orchestras all over Europe both as member of the orchestras and as soloist. He is also a sought after chamber musician. Lucas Macias is the Principal Oboist for the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam and of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra. He is a Professor at the Conservatorio de Musica in Zaragoza, Spain.
